A broken interior slab door isn't just an inconvenience — in a rental property or legal suite, it's a maintenance obligation. This Calgary project involved removing a damaged interior slab and installing a new five-panel replacement, properly hung and aligned within the existing frame.

A slab door is just the door itself — no frame, no hinges pre-attached. It gets installed into an existing frame by transferring the hinge locations, mortising the hardware, and hanging it to fit the existing opening. It requires precision but is often the right choice when the existing frame is solid and square.
The damaged slab was removed and the existing frame inspected for square. Hinge locations were transferred precisely to the new five-panel slab. Hardware was mortised cleanly — hinges recessed flush with the door edge so the door closes tight without gaps. The door was hung, checked for clearance on all four sides, and the latch aligned to the existing strike plate.
The result is a door that operates smoothly, latches cleanly, and maintains consistent clearance around the full perimeter of the frame.
Interior slab and pre-hung door installations are some of the most common projects TheDoorPro handles.
